New Hampshire primary happening now, results at 8pm ET

Voters are turning out in record numbers to vote in the New Hampshire primary today. Most precincts will close at 7pm ET this evening while some don't close until 8pm ET. My guess is we'll have a winner announced shortly after 8pm ET if everything adds up based on exit polls and voter models.

Report from the LA Times:

The polls are now open through most of New Hampshire, where a record turnout is forecast for the nation's first presidential primary.

New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner, overseeing his ninth presidential primary, estimates that a quarter million ballots could be cast in the GOP race, which if true would exceed the nearly 240,000 ballots cast four years ago.

Pre-election surveys suggest Mitt Romney has an insurmountable lead. But a fierce battle was nonetheless being waged in the final days as other candidates fought to beat expectations in anticipation of the next primary in South Carolina.

The final Suffolk University tracking poll saw Romney ticking up four percentage points in the final day. He led Ron Paul 37-18.

A win for Romney would be unprecedented in this respect: no Republican has ever won both the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary. Romney's eight-vote advantage in Iowa has not yet been certified, though GOP officials there said they didn't expect the result to change.

In his closing argument to voters Monday night, Romney said he wanted a more convincing win here.

"You're going to make a statement tomorrow," he said at a rally in Bedford. "Give me the boost I need."

If Romney does indeed take New Hampshire, that will make him 2 and 0 at this point heading into South Carolina and that advantage may give him a fighting chance.

Update

Mitt Romney has been declared the winner in New Hampshire. Now the race for second begins but it is looking good for Huntsman and Paul.

Those damn Ron Paul supporters, No Respect for 2 chickenhawk Hacks. How dare they treat the former speaker of the house the way he deserves. There was probably 1 guy holding a Ron Paul sign. So they try to lump the Occupy and Ron Paul supporters in the same catagory. Nice try Mainstream media.

    • Jam you're sarcasm. Show me the security of the voting system. Iowa's was a hackable joke. You people that start you're post with a negative and than give a positive make me quizzy.

Machael, "I'm surprised he made it this far!" Give me a break and do some homework. Ron Paul can't be stopped now. If you got this far with you're links you had to understand that. So why the left handed complement?

Brad, "I think Americans are plain dumb, or the voting machines are rigged." Here American, get a little smarter.
PAPER TRAIL VOTING (we need a paper trail because they lie and cheat as proved)

By Press Release December 16, 2004
      * ELECTRONIC/PAPER-BALLOT HYBRID PROVIDES UNIQUE APPROACH TO MEET NEW FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS CHICAGO,
Dec. 16 2004/PRNewswire/ — The federal Election Assistance Commission (EAC) and National Association of State Election Directors (NASED) have approved a new, innovative voting machine that is the first electronic system to meet new federal standards by combining the advantages, flexibility and simplicity of computer-based touch screen voting with the assurances provided by a tangible paper ballot. By using the best of both approaches, the Populex system is designed to restore voter confidence that their votes will be counted accurately.
"We are excited to have a voting solution that is affordable, practical and gives voters full confidence that their votes will be counted and, if necessary, re-counted correctly," said Sanford Morganstein, president of Populex. "Comparing the Populex voting system to the machines used in the 2004 election is like comparing a Lexus to an Edsel."
Unlike most other touch screen systems that risk losing votes, the Populex system doesn't collect and store votes electronically in the voting computer.
      Populex:
Instead, Populex prints an official ballot, equipped with a bar code that is scanned to reliably record and count the votes. This paper ballot is the official ballot that's counted on election day and also the audit trail needed for recounts. Additionally, populex's technology helps prevent voters from making errors and provides several opportunities for them to verify their selections.
"if the populex voting system was used during the 2004 election in florida and ohio, the resulting conspiracy theories would not exist," said morganstein. "after voting on the populex system, each voter can leave the polls with the confidence that his or her votes have been accurately recorded and will be accurately counted."

  • Ron Paul is a messenger that is daily and evermore opening the eyes of all Americans — despite the instructions that seemed to have been issued by the people controlling the mainstream media — total silence if possible on Ron Paul (even mentioning his name in any way — since lack of any exposure will limit his message).

And his message is what the puppet masters fear worst — THE TRUTH — a return to ACTUAL Liberty for the American People and eventual Prosperity by tough actions (in part):

Obey the US CONSTITUTION to the Letter — since it is recognized by ALL clear and rational thinkers of old and modern days as the best instructional guide to assure TRUE Liberty and Prosperity for ALL its Citizens! Any deviation from it is what is causing the mess our Country is in now!

Closing down the "Promissory Notes" printers of paper money (not backed by a gold standard Treasury Department's REAL Dollars — but backed up by Politicians' promises ONLY….and we know what these are worth) the NEVER audited Federal Reserve Board Private Company!

Shutting down the IRS — a flat tax will end this ever-grabbing octopus.

No Welfare Benefits for non-citizens — enough government encouragement for Illegal Aliens (who by definition are Criminals since they break the existing Law by trespassing without LEGAL approval — de facto are criminally invading our Country).

Bring ALL Soldiers home — no Americans should die to help solve another nation's problems! Stop the insanity of super costly wars world-wide, and concentrate on negating terrorism at home for a fraction of the cost!

This is just a partial list of the TRUTH Ron Paul is spreading. Unlike the political phonies that want be be just "so" off the status quo in order to be "electable".

It will be interesting to see if New Hampshire voters still have the integrity to vote for a real Patriot — Ron Paul — or take the moral compromise and sell their one-and-only counting voice to an "electable" phoney.

It is sort of a Judgement Day — will you be able to look your children in the eye and say: "I voted for the one that represents what I want America to be", or will you avert them in shame and give an excuse…?

    • Michael

Yep, Ron Paul does represent the truth, which is why he will be silenced. I'm surprised he made it this far! Go Ron Paul!

    • Brad

I think Americans are plain dumb, or the voting machines are rigged. I just cant see how anyone would not embrace what Ron Paul is offering.

Obama just signed the most detrimental bill into law that can basically imprison someone indefinitely, or execute them without a fair trial. Ron Paul is the only candidate talking about it, and how it needs to be reversed immediately, and people are still voting for an idiot like Mitt Romney, I don't get it.

Do people want the NWO (New World Order) that's coming right around the corner? Its here people, this is why a president signs a bill like the NDAA, its not to protect you. Its so you will be nice little subservient slaves like the people in North Korea..

  • Captain Ron

Amazing… with all that is going on with this country… there are still those who would believe that someone like Romney would be good for America. He is looking at the Presidency as if it were a trophy… a feather in his cap so to speak… nothing more, nothing less. I am a firm believer in that America gets what America deserves.

Just this statement alone by Romney ought to wake you the hell up…

"You're going to make a statement tomorrow," he said at a rally in Bedford. "Give me the boost I need."

Combine the keywords from the start of both sentences in his quote and what do you get???

    "You're going to Give me"

Vote for Romney and you get what you get.

    • 40,000 New Laws for 2012 — was the heading the day before end of 2011.

None of the Democrooks or the wannabe Republicons said a word of what this actually means!

Only Ron Paul knew the meaning — 40,000 (forty thousand!) more new things the government prohibits you from having the freedom to do this year, and from now on!… (on top of the millions of other ones you are not allowed to do for the many decades such NEGATIVE Laws were passed in previous years)!

Can anyone name a dozen notable Positive Laws passed in the last decade (meaning: Yes, we the US Government trust You, the US Citizen, to have the Freedom to do this….!) — I doubt it… but 40,000 MORE Negative FEDERAL Laws are in force this year — meaning NO — we, the Government will FORCE you, by penalty of Fines or Incarceration, YOU the US Citizen, in 40,000 new ways from exercising these particular freedoms!

And these NEGATIVE Laws are a THOUSAND TIMES compounded on the State level, County, City, Burroughs, even neighborhoods!

It is amazing that the supposedly erudite Media lack the education, or are simply told by their bosses, NOT to state what the Great Roman Cicero warned nearly 2000 years ago — The more Laws a Nation has, the less Justice the Citizens will have!(by inference — less Freedom)!

That as of now we have lost most of our Liberty is obvious — since one can name Hundreds of Thousands of Negative Laws that The State tells us NOT TO DO upon penalty!
And no-one can show Positive Laws passed that are even a minute fraction of this Travesty perpetrated by the Ones in Power against the American People!

So, Ron Paul says: Respect the US Constitution! Which if anyone can remember is all about Positive Laws — You have the FREEDOM to do this, and this, and that….

No one else is saying a word about his crucial issue!

So, vote your conscience — not what the pundits say is best for you.

    • Adam

@Captain Ron: I'm of the opinion that it's much more satisfying to fight for something than against something. Please try to follow your criticism of one candidate with praise for another or at least a comment on what we need out of a candidate. Negativity doesn't do us any good.

  • bradford

I am voting for Romney. Here is why. He is a man of dignity and of incredible values. Never a scandal and he is the financial leader we need with such a poor economy right now. Wake up is right Captain Ron!! But it is you that needs waking up.
Ghee, let's vote for men who have had affairs, broke ethics, been scandalous in public office, have no foreign p[olicy, etc….ROMNEY is the next president of the United States of America!!!!

    • Again, no substance, how about some issues? No one is talking fluff anymore. Where does he stand on issues? What's his voting record? Let me add what you have left out.
Romney is for Obamacare, he wrote Romneycare. You must like the idea of big government, government telling us how we must spend our money. That's not the way I want government run.

Maybe the following will help speed up your reasearch and the natural born of two American citizens would also cover Romney (his parents were Mexican) Jindal (India) Rubio, Cuban parents etc.
      SCOTUS NATURAL BORN CITIZEN PRECEDENCE
Here it is folks, the precedence everyone in DC says doesn't exist!

Established by Minor vs Happersett, 88 U.S. 162 (1875) which specifically defines an Article 2 Section 1 natural-born citizen as a person born in the US to parents who are citizens. The claim of having been born in Hawaii is totally irellevant, as I've been saying for over two years. His release of his perported COLB, whether legitimate or not, and we know it's a fraud, leaves no doubt that he is inelligible, and any claim by him dissavowing it will not stand up in any court of law.
Therefore, Obama – according to US Supreme Court precedent – is not eligible to be President.
This is why the democrats have been trying to amend Article 2 Section 1 at least 8 times, the latest in 2008.
Go to SCOTUS NATURAL BORN CITIZEN PRECEDENCE and read it for yourself!
      http://naturalborncitizen.wordpress.com/2011/06/21/us-supreme-court-precedent-states-that-obama-is-not-eligible-to-be-president/

      Romney is out.

      • Long article — but worth memorizing!

Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as
an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, a baffling breed of mass hysteria
akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages. How, they will wonder,
did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many into
thinking he could manage the world's largest economy, direct the world's
most powerful military, execute the world's most consequential job?

Imagine a future historian examining Obama's pre-presidential life: ushered
into and through the Ivy League despite unremarkable grades and test scores
along the way; a cushy non-job as a "community organizer"; a brief career
as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement (and in fact nearly
devoid of his attention, so often did he vote "present") ; and finally an
unaccomplished single term in the United States Senate, the entirety of
which was devoted to his presidential ambitions. He left no academic legacy
in academia, authored no signature legislation as a legislator.

And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the
white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama's
"spiritual mentor"; a real-life, actual terrorist who served as Obama's
colleague and political sponsor. It is easy to imagine a future historian
looking at it all and asking: how on Earth was such a man elected president?

Not content to wait for history, the incomparable Norman Podhoretz
addressed the question recently in the Wall Street Journal:

To be sure, no white candidate who had close associations with an outspoken
hater of America like Jeremiah Wright and an unrepentant terrorist like
Bill Ayers, would have lasted a single day. But because Mr. Obama was
black, and therefore entitled in the eyes of liberaldom to have hung out
with protesters against various American injustices, even if they were a
bit extreme, he was given a pass.

Let that sink in: Obama was given a pass — held to a lower standard -
because of the color of his skin. Podhoretz continues:

And in any case, what did such ancient history matter when he was also so
articulate and elegant and (as he himself had said) "non-threatening," all
of which gave him a fighting chance to become the first black president and
thereby to lay the curse of racism to rest?

Podhoretz puts his finger, I think, on the animating pulse of the Obama
phenomenon — affirmative action . Not in the legal sense, of course. But
certainly in the motivating sentiment behind all affirmative action laws
and regulations, which are designed primarily to make white people, and
especially white liberals, feel good about themselves.

Unfortunately, minorities often suffer so that whites can pat themselves on
the back. Liberals routinely admit minorities to schools for which they are
not qualified, yet take no responsibility for the inevitable poor
performance and high drop-out rates which follow. Liberals don't care if
these minority students fail; liberals aren't around to witness the
emotional devastation and deflated self esteem resulting from the racist
policy that is affirmative action. Yes, racist.

Holding someone to a separate standard merely because of the color of his
skin — that's affirmative action in a nutshell, and if that isn't racism,
then nothing is. And that is what America did to Obama.

True, Obama himself was never troubled by his lack of achievements, but why
would he be? As many have noted, Obama was told he was good enough for
Columbia despite undistinguished grades at Occidental; he was told he was
good enough for the US Senate despite a mediocre record in Illinois ; he was
told he was good enough to be president despite no record at all in the
Senate. All his life, every step of the way, Obama was told he was good
enough for the next step, in spite of ample evidence to the contrary. What
could this breed if not the sort of empty narcissism on display every time
        Obama speaks?

In 2008, many who agreed that he lacked executive qualifications
nonetheless raved about Obama's oratory skills, intellect, and cool
character. Those people — conservatives included — ought now to be deeply
embarrassed. The man thinks and speaks in the hoariest of clichés, and
that's when he has his teleprompter in front of him; when the prompter is
absent he can barely think or speak at all. Not one original idea has ever
issued from his mouth — it's all warmed-over Marxism of the kind that has
failed over and over again for 100 years

And what about his character? Obama is constantly blaming anything and
everything else for his troubles. Bush did it; it was bad luck; I inherited
this mess. It is embarrassing to see a president so willing to advertise
his own powerlessness, so comfortable with his own incompetence. But
really, what were we to expect? The man has never been responsible for
anything, so how do we expect him to act responsibly?

In short: our president is a small and small-minded man, with neither the
temperament nor the intellect to handle his job. When you understand that,
and only when you understand that, will the current erosion of liberty and
prosperity make sense. It could not have gone otherwise with such a man in
        the Oval Office .

From now thru November 2012 this should be required weekly
        - or at least monthly - reading.

        BY ALL WHO VOTE!!!

Did you notice who Obama threatened when he wasn't getting his way on
        raising the debt ceiling?

He threatened to not pay :
        Social Security Retirees
        Military Retirees
        Social Security disability and
        Federal Retirees.

Now… let this sink in really well -

He did not threaten to stop payments to illegal aliens.

He did not threaten to take frivolous benefits such as Internet access
        away from violent inmates.

He did not offer to fire some of the thousands of unnecessary federal
        employees that he hired .

He did not offer to cut down on his or his wife's frivolous gallivanting
around the country and the world.

He did not threaten to not pay the senators and representatives or any of
        their staff.

He did not threaten to take benefits away from welfare recipients.

He did not threaten the food stamp programs.

He did not threaten to not pay foreign aid.

He did not threaten to cut back on anything that involves his base of
        voters.

The list could go on and on. He is in full political re-election mode!

        - Why are we allowing this person to destroy this wonderful country with
        his selfishness and lies?
        - His type of change is killing our country. He needs to be stopped and
only our votes can stop him.
        - Do not forget about his tactics when it's election time. Vote Obama
out of the Presidency in 2012.

LET'S MAKE 2012 THE END OF AN ERROR!

AMERICA… HOME OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE.

        PRAY FOR OUR TROOPS.

        ELECTION 2012 IS COMING!!!

A Nation of Sheep Breeds a Government of Wolves !
I'm 100% for PASSING THIS ON!!!
        Let's Take a Stand!!!

        Obama: Gone!
        Borders : Closed!
        Language : English only
Culture : Constitution, and the Bill of Rights!

Or maybe he is going to piece us out bit by bit to the highest bidder (China) you know the one he wants to put tariffs on and start a trade war that we can't win because we are $15 Trillion in Debt, and leave us high and dry, just like the folks he did that to while he was at Bain Capital.

    • Michael

It sure looks like Romney will be the nominee. President is still up for grabs.

    • Constitution

Mitt TheGlove Herman Munster is the new Chosen One that the controllers selected to replace Obama. Hoiman is onboard. Even prepping his Presidential Library by demolishing his huge Mansion, has plans to build a Palace in its place. Watch it grow. Here's the game plan setup: News has been spread that Michele never wanted to leave ChiTown. Spread that she has big friction with Staff. Book newly published spills more gravy to make it look "natural" that she returns to ChiTown… with O in Tow. The controllers shipped Daley back to Chicago already. He will work in the Mayor's "projects" as he did previously… Rahm was just a place holder and they will move O in as Mayor of Chicago. Most of the demolition crew in DC are Chicago types and some will remain and some resettle in ChiTown to help O and Daley et al. The controllers tell the Media to promo Mitt. They are doing a great job of it… at their own peril because public is getting pretty steamed at them. Reason controllers are replacing O… they thought Americans would back off, fade away in challenging O's eligibility. Miscalculation #1. States are working to keep O off the ballot, and Georgia has blocked him. No credentials. Controllers can't fight every State on same subject. They don't want to be caught so best way out is getting a candidate from different party (party doesn't matter to them) which supposedly throws the public off the scent. Nah, they are going to get what Americans are going to give them. Did anybody witness Mitt TheGlove soft shoe floating down a Manhattan Wall Street area surrounded by a bunch of corporate types? Couldn't speak, kept chin tucked. They slipped into one of the marble stainless steel skyscrapers. $$and Orders. Hope the artist that did the O clown painting steps up and blows the cover off of this one by putting the same paint on Mitt. Maybe it will help enlighten a whole lot of the useful idiots voting for the non-Christian. Watch it folks, you are being suckered again.

Bradford- that is the way we have voted in the past: incompetent, unfaithful, egotistical,self-serving,money squandering, laundering liars. Why stop now??? Because we are not the America we were looking for in the last election.
Money is about to fly out of everywhere to pay for political ads. Kids are still living in hotels and even tents with their unemployed parents. People are dying because they can't afford to seek medical treatment and get prescriptions for things such as high blood pressure, diabetes etc. They are over weight because cheap food is better than no food. Yes a business man may seem like the answer to our economic problems but its bigger than that now and Romney isn't equipped for such a job

everyone other than Ron Paul are Runing to be the last president and show horse of the United states. Ron Paul wants to fix the USA and the others wanna go down with the ship as the last captain

I see the usual attempt at dispassionate reporting going on, knowing we gave up objective reporting decades ago I'm not surprised. Molly, really, are we being honest about what we are seeing there? You say, "younger Ron Paul supporters all of them shouting bigot". I highly doubt your accuracy and believe highly the media's disdain towards Paul and his supporters. Shame to you for your desire to attach "anyone's" ill behavior to a candidates name.

  • Rufus

First of all this next president will not be the last and I agree with everything but ron pauls extreme isolation he wants America to be in. All the candidates are great men but romney is not conservative hes a moderate his views have changed greatly he went from anti gun right to pro gun right so on and so forth so Romney may be a great buisness man but he is not the man we need o lead our country!

    • The shame is a lot of the American People are no longer the true sons and daughters of the Pioneers that risked life and limb to create a Great Nation. Now it seems most are just a weak facsimile wanting for Big Brother to take care of them — no matter the ULTIMATE cost of Liberty, as long as they have perceived TEMPORARY security! Pathetic — but seems to hold true — so these ones will vote for the Safer Candidate, not for the Right one.

The only hope America has is for someone to awaken the TRUE AMERICAN SPIRIT — and Ron Paul is the only real person that is doing this!

The rest are just the other side of the coin — the wooden nickel the Democrooks have as Obama's face…..

Hey, wait a minute Surfisher! Ron Paul understands one of the oldest laws of physics that everyone else has forgotten, "For every action, there is a equal and opposite reaction"
Our foreign policy of intervention has caused them to want to attack us, so we stop intervening and they stop wanting to attack us.
They will have a much more difficult time getting any attack off inside the U.S. with Ron Paul as President because he is the only one with a sound plan to secure OUR borders, not a foreign countries… he will use the Military for something they haven't been used for…Defense! Their sole reason for existence.
And this is the reason he has received the endorsement of the former CIA Bin Laden Unit Chief : Michael Scheuer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udz5_FdoFGU
This is why we got attacked on 911, according to the CIA/FBI 911 Commission Report.
You need to do research. Don't fall for the media bias.
The only one running for president that understands these things.
He is not afraid to go to war, he just understand the very harsh consequences that come of it, so if we go it will be by a Declaration of War passed by Congress who are the voice of the people that have elected him, we will go in full force, to win it, and then get out.

      Open your eyes

I read the books Blowback by Chalmers Johnson and The Creature From Jekyll Island by G. Edward Griffin to get an in depth understanding of Ron Paul's economic and foreign policy views. Ever since I've been a believer that his views are spot on.

What's so wrong with not killing others and invading other countries? Maybe you like your freedoms stripped year after year. Do you enjoy pain and greed in our country over peace and happiness?

Sometimes I think people like you want our country attacked.

People like you make me ashamed to be in the military.

    • Braden Neddermeyer

Yes Matt. I'm a "bot". A 19 year old who sees obvious problems this country is facing is a "bot". Keep in mind it is I, not you, who will be impacted the most by our increasing debt. I am blown away by so many Americans who choose large, central, and over-imposing government rule their life. Then these Americans choose to call names that imply we Ron Paul supporters are blindly following his lead when in actuality they (you) are the sheep. Wake up….and next time, do some research and provide some substance for logical debate before you attack and run. Sounds a lot like the way the "men" of Al-Qaeda.

Ron Paul correctly predicted 9/11 , the economy crisis, and Obama's lie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92OV3RbU3ek&feature=pyv
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hJTisovvjc - predicts 9/11
    http://conservativebyte.com/2012/01/ron-pauls-2002-predictions-all-come-true/

    Here's a thought;

If we would've had Ron Paul's foriegn and economic policy implemented back in the 80's or 90', his foriegn policy of not policing the world , nation rebuilding , and foriegn aid to countries who despise us…..just think of the free health care we could have with that money ….already paid for …. and Obamacare would be a mute subject and i'm all for free healthcare to Americans…just not how Obama proposes. Just think 911 would've never happened by a long shot (note you tube video))…And think of thousands of jobs created putting troops on the border instead keeping greedy business owners from recieving "slave labor" from illegal aliens not to mention more jobs being filled by Americans ….the free E-verify to business' could help cure that problem. This would also be less violent crime, human-trafficing and less drugs being brought into the country. I know it's not popular but Ron Paul supports legalizing marijauna and taxing it. WOW …how much more money would that bring and less prison jail population as well as taxes spent on taking care of them?

Imagine how we could help the unemployed or invest in infrastructure to stimulate the economy and create more jobs.

The way i see it Ron Paul has the only plan on cuttting a trillion dollars in federal spening without making our children pay for the taxes. Reagan failed with the last amnesty now democrats want to use an already failed move and what kind of moron believes that illegal aliens do the jobs Americans will not do the jobs. Americans have cleaned toilets, worked in packing houses and all the jobs out there til….Greedy corporations lowered pay & took away benefits making welfare and unemployment seem even better than "slave labor" wages. I'm all for Legal immigration , especially for specialty jobs extremely hard to fill. Open borders and a welfare state is a riduclous way to run a successful way to run a country …but why would the democrats make it sound as if there for amnsety or path to citizenship?….duh big red truck ….sounds more like an agenda…let's see maybe for big business and greedy corporate America or for votes?

Yeah go Ron!! Peru is with you!

I am amazed at how many comments, articles and videos I've seen from people around the world who hold Ron Paul in such high esteem and hope for his Presidency! I wish there were a way to measure the numbers of his world supporters.

Huntsman's hair needs to be closer to his head to look neater. Also, the grey in his hair needs to be managed better. It doesn't look that great the way it is now. He needs to look better!

I'm ultra conservative and I don't support Mitt or Paul. I'd prefer Santorum or Newt. I understand people likeing Paul in domestic issues but I can't stand his forgien policy. This policy was tried by none other that Neville Chamberlain, and Britian relized they had made a mistake durning a little thing they called the BLitz. It really offends me he claims we weren't attack. Maybe he slept in on 9/11 but the rest of us weren't, and even he supported the war in Afganistan then, so he has changed his mind (He doesn't do it often). I don't think he could win the general election I'm sorry, but the thought of 4 more years of Obama scares me to the thought of moving to New Zealand (Not that I will but it's a thought). I don't think he's to old to be president at all, but if any of you live in a liberal county of a liberal state it got really annoying hear people say McCain would DIE in office under the pressure, and we all know the way the liberal media hammered Palin so he really didn't look good to these people. I respect the enthusiasm of pauls followers, but he doesn't have a HUGE following he has a CULT-LIKE one. That's not an insult I'm not calling you crazy but enthusiastic please no that.

On the subject of Mitt he's not conservative and althought I understand people saying he's electible because he's more moderate, but he's really not. THe problem is Romney Care. I realize there are big differences between this and Obama Care, but when Obama's billion $ campaign gets underway people won't and people who know them will begin to wonder. Obama Care is the crown jewel of this administrations failures and Mitt being our candidate eliminates that. He looks electible now but wait until Obama's campaign gets going. I also would like to mention that I don't trust him on issues like the 2nd amendment and abortion that he has flip-flopped on. Could he get the economey going? Maybe but will he have that chance I don't really no. It will be close. I would also like to add that I wnet and saw Obama making a speech in my liberal county. I went not because I like him but because I wanted to see a sitting president and I hoped he would acually talk about the American Jobs Act which he was supposed to but didn't. He will run a mud-slinging campaign, and unleash on Mitt for the few business that failed under him and his stupid comment abotu firing people that was taken out of contex. I'd support him over Obama, but I'd also support a tin can over Obama.

I like Santorum because he's an all around conservative like me and Reagan, and others. Once people relize he's not just socially conservative but in all sences of the word. Newt is very similar, and is a great debater which would do great in the general.

I relize Mitt is doing good but once the field thins and there's one true conservative left standing (most likely Santorum or Newt) then It will be a long drwn out primary that could last until May. That's my two cents.

P.S. Ron Paul isnt' stupid enough to run as a third party. He would just split the Republican vote letting Obama walk into the WHite House. We don't need another 1912. Imagine 100 years of elections and us Republicans make the same mistake again. Let's remember the real goal here to beat Obama!

    • ok

Not normally a grammar Nazi, but you are butchering the English language.

    • Double B, "I'm ultra conservative and I don't support Mitt or Paul. I'd prefer Santorum or Newt."
You lie, you're no ultra conservative and neither are they.

" I respect the enthusiasm of pauls followers, but he doesn't have a HUGE following he has a CULT-LIKE one. That's not an insult I'm not calling you crazy but enthusiastic please no that."
YOU'RE A TWO-FACED, DOUBLE DEALING TROLL in my opinion. Since when is following the Constitution to be considered a cult?

      • You better hope that Ron Paul gets the nomination BB, cause if he doesn't somethings been rigged and we will have a 3rd party, or a big write-in. It's up to him and what he wants to do. Either way, he will be our president.

        • ok

Not a Paul hater by any means but I don't see how getting second place sets him up as a shoe in winner. Any chance he has of winning would be wiped out if he tried to have a write-in campaign… that simply won't work in a general election.

          • If most voters had a logical mind Ron Paul would be a shoo-in. However, this not being the case, I see him as a Messenger. The longer he stays in the race, the longer his message will be heard — and spreading the truth to the people is the bane for nearly all professional politicians. If he consistently stays in the top three, and eventually the bottom runners drop out, he'll be in a position whereby the mainstream media will be forced to allocate more time on him. And more exposure will mean more Americans will hear the truth from a genuine person (which will contrast sharply with the perfidy of the appeasers left).

If Ron Paul can get to the point where he'll be in one-on-one debates with Mitt (who unquestionably will be in the final two), the national media will have no choice but to cover, in a seemingly equal manner, these two candidates. What will this mean? I'd postulate that Ron Paul's message will be exponentially broadcast across the Nation, and that will certainly rock the "status quo" boat — will it sink it though….

I don't know, but to paraphrase the great Bette Davis: "Hold on, fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride!"

I'll conclude one thing — the longer Ron Paul stays, the better America's chances for salvation.

          • Sunfisher, Thanks for the vote of confidence, perhaps people hearing his Constitutional stance will wake up the people.

  • Don, the numbers game is actually a minutes game — how much time will the national media accord to Ron Paul. On the day of the Iowa Caucus I watched Fox and MSNBC News (alternating during commercials) for 4 hrs from morning till noon — from these 4 hrs only about 40 seconds were given to mentioning Ron Paul's name (and most were just snippets ridiculing him on his stance of bringing back the Gold Standard, or other "silly" things he espouses). That was all!

Before the NH vote — about 4 minutes (during 4 hrs). Afterwards, about 10 minutes in 4 hrs, without many digs on his stance (seems the media is getting cautious of the possible backlash for their irresponsible behavior up to this point).

With such nearly non-existent national media exposure — Ron Paul's supporters keep climbing!

One can extrapolate that with full media coverage (such as a one-on-one candidate has to receive), Ron Paul's supporters will increase exponentially.
