Video: President Obama Launches 2012 Campaign
President Obama today officially launched his 2012 re-election campaign by releasing a video to supporters on his website. The theme of the video seems to draw on the energy from his 2008 campaign which he will inevitably need if he hopes to capture lightning in a jar for a second time.
This is basically a "feel good" appeal to supporters in the hopes that the interest can be peaked again.
Report from Bloomberg:
President Barack Obama began his bid for re-election in 2012 by releasing a campaign video on his website and sending an e-mail to supporters that said the job of preparing for his campaign “must start today.”
“We are filing papers to launch our 2012 campaign,” Obama wrote in the e-mail. “We’re doing this now because the politics we believe in does not start with expensive TV ads or extravaganzas, but with you — with people organizing block-by- block, talking to neighbors, co-workers and friends. And that kind of campaign takes time to build.”
The campaign will be “farther reaching, more focused, and more innovative than anything we’ve built before,” Obama said. “Even though I’m focused on the job you elected me to do, and the race may not reach full speed for a year or more, the work of laying the foundation for our campaign must start today.”
The filing with the Federal Election Commission will allow Obama to begin fundraising and other organizational efforts for his goal of winning a second White House term. The campaign will have its headquarters in Chicago, his adopted hometown and base for his 2008 victory.
The Obama campaign must attempt to match the energy and fervor we're going to see from the Tea Party and others in the conservative caucus. Without such a strong appeal, it will be difficult for Obama to go toe-to-toe in 2012 with an energized Republican base pushing back hard.

Good morning,
Mr. President, congratulations on this greatest decision! Always as a member of the Afghan community residing in WDC and Northern Virginia I'm a strong supporter of your hard work and your continued presidency. I will work very hard for you and with you to make your election a win - to increase the number of votes/supporters for your next presidency term. My question is how can I get in touch with your election offices in Washington DC so that I go out there on weekends to assist with anything they may need – to follow a certain agenda provided by the WDC office - will there be such an offices in WDC or Northern VA?
Many thanks; I wish you a lot of success. Good luck.
Warm Regards,
Fariba
